DriverÂ’s attitude when alighting:
Me: “Uncle, is there another (shorter) route here?”
Him: “I take the expressway, the taxi drivers all do that.”
Me: “Uncle, I take the cab to NTU, the price also don’t exceed $17 leh.” (The cheapest is $14.90 in 18 minutes)
Him: “There are a lot of routes here.” He insists, nonchalant about it.
I took a receipt and alighted.
And called the customer service hotline to give feedback. Will the customer service officer get back to me? What kind of action will be taken against the driver? Will he treat his passengers the same way again?
Place on board: Near crossroad of Jalan Membina (on this road) and Kim Tian Rd
Place alighted: Jurong West St 41 across road from Blk 467
Day on board: Sunday evening, no rain, great to fair traffic conditions, no jam
Clocked a distance of 25.5 km in 37 minutes ( I would have taken the MRT in the first place if the time is so long.)
Research from street directory showed a maximum distance of 17.3 km by expressway, and takes a time of 11 minutes plus.
NOTE: He was never rude, nor raised his voice. He just avoided my questions and refused to admit he took the longer route and drove very slowly. I felt like he was ignoring my presence, and even made my comments felt minute and unwarranted.
NOTE 2: There was a pick-up in front of us that supposedly had to observe a 70 km/h speed limit, but it disappeared into the distance ahead after a while.
