previously, when shoes were made in USA, it will be worth it cos it can last quite a while. I remember i bought a Timberland made in USA, it lasted 3 full years. I bought a made in China Timberland, so disappointing! So, no, I won't pay $100 and more for a made in China, branded shoes again. It stinks!

Wah lao. After reading I realise Ditzy and i got similar taste!
Bought a pair of old teva erm..5 years back, at that time already considered old stock so cheap went at i think $48 dollar. I wear very often...now then i have to think about changing it. But i wont buy teva anymore. It might be durable but it's GLUE...local weather wet+shine+mud make the glue come off quicker...so i think i look at bata for sew soles. For those who dont know sew soles you will see a thick thread going all the way around the bottom edge of the shoe. It's more reliable than glue usually.
Then late last year bought a pair of Dr martins...$90 ...at first blister like no tomorrow but realise after walking in the rain one day +seasoning ...Now the shoe very very comfortable i think can last another few more years.
Sport shoe, i trust only one brand ascis. Very good quality. Bought half a year into bmt (discount @ 120) wear for erm..3-4 years now then the sole wear off. Very good to wear (but not for rain) Two years back bought another pair of ascis @135 also discount going to wear that when the current one is going to be thrown away.
I follow the principle, the shoe must be comfortable, you must LOVE WEARING it and not pay for looks. If it is durable it's cost is just price/no. of years. So it will be pretty cheap. I wont pay for shoes if it spoils in a year, you have to reseason a new pair of shoe somemore.
For anti-smell tips just sun your footwear regularly... IE sun a day for each day you wear. -
erm. what i feel is that, if you like the shoe just buy it.
and who says no one looks at shoes.
wear a pair of slippers to work with your black pants. see what happens to you. -
