Good advice urgently needed for "the new kid in town"

Dear all,
I desperately need a good advice. As a job beginner I was offered to relocate and work in Singapore and would be happy to do so. However I'm not sure, how I am supposed to calculate my costs, since I won't have a kind of fancy expat contract.
Therefore I woulk like to ask you, how much is the rent for a nice 2 rooms accomodation with aircon near the NUS and MTR station Buona Vista.
I am deeply grateful for any help and suggestions!!!! -
why ur company no settle accommodation for u?

If you are talking about 3 room flat, the price range would be from 800 to 1000 sg dollars.........
you never state what you expect of a flat?

I'm from Germany and just graduated. Since I won't afford to move into a condo, public would be ok.

I've read so much that housing prices went up the last time, so I got really worried.

MTR= Mass Transit Railway
MRT = Mass Rapid Transit
so whats the difference? -
is ur company giving u any housing reimbursements?
how comfortable are u to commit to renting a unit w/o even taking a look personally (assuming u are not in singapore now)?
will it be too late if u start looking when u are in singapore?
meaning u got to stay in a hotel or service apt while u look for a suitable unit.....
dun worry, it's not difficult to find housing here, but most importantly, u have to take a look at the place urself before u agree to rent it.....talk terms with the owner.......and there is paperwork to be done also..... -

no, I won't receive any living quarter allowances. I totally agree, that it is necessary to personally look for a flat, since everyone's taste is different. Since the monthly rent will be the highes costs to bare, it is essential for me to calculate whether my income is enough to have a decent life....
Right now I just have to decide wether the money is enough and accept or reject the given offer.

yesh, u can get a pretty decent 3/4-room unit in singapore with SGD1k
over here, 3-room flat means 1 living room, 2 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms
4-room flat will be 3 bedrooms, ceteris paribus.
u may need to travel a little to ur workplace though, as the nearest housings around ur workplace are mainly condos and pte properties...at least SGD2K and above for a condo unit......
though i dunno how german companies operate, but i think since the co. sends u overseas, they shd be at least be responsible in staff's accommodation and welfare in the foreign country -

of course an expat-package would be nice. But that's the incentive for the company for hiring a graduate without experience.....

I'm already working for the company for a year, but that's still considered as beginner. I will have some projects concerning restructuring accounting, etc...

yes, this would be the first time in singapore, altough i've been around in asia a lot. stayed in central china for one year to learn mandarin and traveled to Laos and Thailand.
being abroad is always very experience. If I had the time and money I would see the whole world.

I will be costly... a 3 room flat cost around $700 to $1000 depending on location... perhaps u want to look to another alternatively??? For infor 3 room flat brakdown to 2 bedrooms, 1 living room , 1 kitchen , 2 toilet for newer house or 1 toilet 1 bathroom for older version... U might luckly if u find one with a store room... May I know your occuaption? then I might be able to advice you on the type of accomandations needed....
