this topic disturbs me a lot...
the guy has died.. a heart attack.. at his stressful job..
something like that.. not the first time, won't be the last if people keep driving themselves so hard... it is sad and tragic... it is even sadder that he leaves behind a family which seems to be dependent on him.. that is sadness..
however, what disturbs me greatly is this... a man has died... people around him are talking about "losses" "corrections" and all that..
have we become so inhuman that the life of a man is secondary to the "economic movements" ?
in a documentary i watched, a trader was talking about the 9/11 incident.. he was saying that when the planes crashed into the towers, the floors were hushed for a while.. then there was actually cheering because they knew that Gold would go through the roof and those whose positions were short would make a killing...
much later, during the making of the documentary, this trader admitted with some shame that at that time, all of them felt that it was something wonderful that had happened.. they were all aware that people were dying but it never registered.. all they were focussed on was trying to get some advantage from the atrocity and how to leverage as much advantage and money as possible from the event...
now looking at the posts made, are we Singaporeans on our way to becoming as cynical and self-centred as those traders?
if so, isn't it a terrible world we are leaving to our children to grow up in?

Did the people just carry on playing?

history always repeat itself when the market rallies.
is the economy really doing so well? people jump on the wagon whenever the market rallies because they think there are a lot of money to be made.
and when the market corrects, like it always do, some people get burned.
who are the people who really benefits in a market rally?
the big fish feeds on the small fish.
i heard from somewhere, "the new investors are educated people. they know the stocks they bought have value and thus have no reason to panic because of the recent sell down."
total rubbish isnt it?
what value for money? some counters were just $2 - $4 a share a year or two ago but are now more than $12 - $14 a share.

The guy had an heart attack. Which means he had an attack comming the day/week before. Only it struck at that time. Therefore ppl equate it with the loss. Which is not correct, because it is comming soon. Stress brought it forward, by one or two days. He died not of the heart attack. He was crippled by it. He died because help was not given within the first 5 minutes after the attack. People die when spectators stand around wondering who is going to do it, CPR.

Moral of the story: trading is not for weak hearts....!
If you got weak heart and you suddenly see yourself become a multi-millionaire within minutes, you may oso die of heart attack.......
