  JAE - Joint Admissions Exercise
  JPAE - Joint Polytechnic Admissions Exercise
  
  Usually, JAE is for current O Levels students who have just received their results.
  
  JPAE is usually for those who are considering options (such as the sponsorship by SAF is done using JPAE) or for those who are from ITE/JC.
  
  JPAE are also for foreigners, but they are usually held on a later date.
  
  Do not confuse PAE with JPAE, PAE are for students who have done well in their prelims, and not O Levels and can enter the first 3 months for JC. This will be scrapped from 2008 onwards.

  One reason is because of A Levels. A Levels are held at the end of year. For those who missed the first 3 months, they already have a hard time catching up.
  
  And teachers have less than 2 years to finish the whole A Levels syllabus. There's not enough time for appeals and processing rubbish.
