This is a classic example of how many of our Singaporean chinese in the Singapore society would do to 'get rid' of our elderly family and relatives.
Seeing as to how these people view their elders as extra baggage and burden, throwing away all kinship and filial piety, they deemed it 'good riddance' to remove the elderly with no remorse or respect, not even compassion for their own kin, what kind of example are these people projecting to the society and to the people around the world?
Such thinking and mindset reflects these people's own thinking of being 'realistic' and 'practical' yet it only serves as a platform to remind the people over the world how our society turned us to be like them. (If you see a certain society in other nations exhibit such pattern, won't you 'generalise' and sae "Is that their culture?" )
I can only pity such people who have this mindset for they too would breed such thinking and groom their future generations the same way and most likely be replied with the same method in the same manner by their own children. -
