was confused and dilema whether to hold the rom and actual day on same day or different....
was comparing the pros and cons.....
pros:
1) same days mean u dun need to spend extra money on rom celebration.... save $$$...
2) rom date and wedding date same
cons:
1) customary wedding needs to be on an auspicious date. it mustn't clash with parents and some of the important relatives. therefore, the date we hold our customary may not be the date that we want or the date symbolic to both of us, i.e birthdays or anniversary.
2) very rushing, some hotel doesn't even allow rom to be held concurrently, say 15min before the dinner. however they do allow ceremony to be held earlier say 6pm prior to dinner. but relatives and friends have to arrived early and thereafter the ceremony they have to wait in vain at the lobby maybe for 1 hr plus or so.(hotel normally dun allow pple to stay in the ballroom as they need to prepare the wedding dinner). As they expect flow of pple to start coming in by 7pm.
3) quite meaningless to hold tea reception in the morning when both of us are not yet officially husband and wife. it would be better if both of us have already been officially married before the tea reception.
so for those planning marriage soon or already been married... what do you think? please do share your experiences..........
I had my ROM and wedding on different days...better in the sense that it doesnt have to be too much of a rush...
if on the same day...would be something like...
wake up...go fetch bride...tea ceremony at her place...go ROM...take pics at ROM...go my place for tea ceremony....go hotel/restaurant....last min look look see see at dinner venue...makeup...go back to dinner venue for dinner march-in...march-in already...eat a bit...go up change...come down for champage and pics....end of dinner...stand at the door shake hands...shake finish...go settle dinner bill...go up to hotel room...remove makeup...by that time....blur liao...
same day I feel its a little too time-strapped liao...U can "save" time by having 1 location for tea ceremony...at the restaurant...but timing will be quite early...no point lar...unless U are OK with serve-u-tea-if-U-are-here-if-not-too-bad style or U can provide something for ur relatives to do at another location before the dinner starts...depends on what kind of parents and relatives U have also...

I know its illegal to hold wedding dinner before being ROMed 1st...but I dunno if this rule includes tea reception...can email ROM and ask.
