20 points if I'm not wrong... My sis and I had a conversation last time and it was said that the cut-off points for courses in polytechnics are getting lower and lower... I guess it will prove difficult for people who want to get a place there... There is this girl whom she knows. She achieved quite 'remarkable' results. 18 points, and she failed to land herself a place in a polytechnic for a certain course. The cut-off point for that course is 14 points. Imagine, 14 points for a polytechnic! Standards definitely are getting higher!
You can go to a JC with 14 points. Sis said these kids are out to grab the positions with other kids with a lower aggregate in the O-levels, depriving them of the course they truly want to pursue.
Studying is becoming quite a chore. With many paths lay out for people, it is now up to them which one they want to take. And of course, their results. -

actualli i dink the reason why the cut off point for poly is getting lower is because students who scored damn well (like 7 points or sth) are going poly instead of jc, resulting in students who could have actually entered poly kenna pushed out. den now, the JC population are shrinking..which is good..heh..liddat we easier go uni..=P

Coz people with L1R5 14 is competing with those L1R4 14 to go to Poly and the better courses. However, L1R4 will find it tough going to JC on the other hand.
I think all smart liao, if L1R5 > 10 then go JC for what, go there kena pwn by all the HC, RJ 4As one. Might as well go Poly, at least can go to better courses, higher chance of doing well and is as easy to Uni from Poly. Rather than always kena last in JC.
Should have gone Poly myself.
