how to derive?

  somethings has crack my brain for a long time
  
  anyone know how do you derive this formula : R - (Square root of(Rsquare-(D/2)square)
  this is a formula to find the side height of a triangle when the hypo is a radius(meaning a curve).
  
  R=radius, D=Diameter(the height)
