not being able to detect sarcasm is not a big problem, really, even though most people with average IQ would be able to. i mean, it's really not your fault. and it's not like you'd die without this ability. it can even be beneficial in certain instances. for instance, you can remain blissfully unaware that you're being sarcasmed. it's not a bad thing, really.Originally posted by finoq:I can't usually detect sarcasm and I don't know how to counter it

There are no 2 ways about it: you gotta get more if you wanna toughen up.
One trick is to pay no heed to sarcasm while maintaining 100% self confidence. Let the other fella sprouting sarcasm say all he wants coz his mouth is his. There's no need to "counter" else it becomes a quarrel. Just stay cool, shrug your shoulders, smile and laugh it over....... With practice, this becomes no big deal.......!
