JUST A QUICK QUESTION ON CHEMISTRY. PLS HELP.

  Tumeric is a natural dye used in making curry, is also a natural indicator.
  
  But how can tumeric act as an indicator and why tumeric stains cannot be easily washed off your clothes using washing powder??
  
  got any ideas? i really dont know. pls help and give your precious reasonable explainations..

  It changes colour in acidic mediums. It retains its colour in akaline mediums, so detergents of alkaline nature will not remove the stains.
  
  I didn't do any research, I simply applied what existing knowledge I have in a logical manner. Good luck with other such questions.

  you mean turmeric indicator is a weak base?

  If turmuric indicator itself is acidic, then, the colour change is in akaline solution.
