I just moved into my new flat but I dun intend to get washing machine yet, so any recommendation on wat powder/detergent to buy if i intend to manually (i.e. drown in kitchen sink) wash my clothes? cos i haven tried maually since NS days when we used to use the big bar of industrial soap... im assuming some brand more suitable for hand wash, others more for machine etc. thanks!

there is no different in detergent.. there will still b germs on it unless u washing it in hot water..

No need detergent. From my years of experience watching dramas on TV, you can just bring your clothes down to any nearby body of water, place them on rocks at the bank, then beat your clothes with a suitable size stick. This will save u money on detergent. Dun let those detergent companies fool you into thinking you need to pay them for something you can actually do for free!

When I think about it, I also think this way more effective. We have been misled by those big detergent manufacturers who laugh all the way to the bank with clutches of our hard earned cash in their grimy claws.
Ok think ah... if you go to theme park and see roller coaster, will you be scared? No! you will want to get ON it! That's what the germs see our washing machines as. joyrides!
But instead, if you see a gigantic being holding a stick, ready to beat the crap out of will, will you run? Sure you will. I know I will. Pure and simple logic. It's cleaner to beat the clothes. -

me handwash all my clothes.....i never ever knew how to operate a washing machine.......
jus need to get pails and basins.....
dun do in kitchen sink lah, do in bathroom -
get the washing machine lah.
try to get them in a pair. a front loading washing machine and the dryer stacked ontop of it.
trust me. you will be very very appreciative of them in the future.
any kind of washing detergent is okay for handwash, but liquids ones are better cos they wont leave powdery residue on your clothes. -

You are all slaves to the corporations. I still say water and stick. If you got no stick, just whack your clothes against a hard surface. Recently I saw got new technology just come out. Called washboards. Can scrub scrub your clothes against these washboards which are ridged.
Please keep in mind, for those who hand wash and still use detergent, that your hands will be damaged. The detergent makers and hand/skin care product manufacturers are in cahoots. Yes, you end up need to buy more products to keep your skin soft and pale and smooth.
I believe they use unwanted hamsters in their lab tests to adjust the level of damage detergent does to skin, and how what is needed to make your skin seem smooth again with skin care products. Those poor hamsters are shaved and repeatedly dipped, shivering and cowering, into beakers of odd solutions.

.....with the singapore flat space getting so small, even with big wardrobes, you will find yourself overcrowded.
and when babies comes along....it will be really really horrible with really mountains of clothes to wash and dry.
Plan for the future, dont wait till the future finds you. -

You dont want to have those hot air heating up your house when its raining outside and you have to dry your clothes in the dryer. -
