Yeah I have, traffic in M'sia, HongKong/Macau is quite bad, Japanese drivers are ok, but Tokyo traffic crossings confuse me... but thats another tale.Originally posted by snop_coolz:i bet u haven been oversea yet![]()
the traffic could b much more worst..
I was thinking have it running while I approach the crossing and when I actually cross. I don't want to let other really nice drivers wait for me when I am standing by the side taping it. I will just walk naturally just have the camera on and recording.Originally posted by pervertboi:make sure u tape it on the pavement..... if not that'll become evidence ur hit and run case...![]()
what if u can't get it on the first run? are u gonna walk to and fro at the pedestrian crossing like a siao lang?Originally posted by karn123:I was thinking have it running while I approach the crossing and when I actually cross. Some drivers reallly surprise me with their kindness by slowing down and stopping when I am 2-3 metres away from the crossing. I hurry across the road for these drivers. I return kindness with kindness. Its those brutes on the road I cant stand, male or female.
No leh... not say like I'm gonna camp these drivers or I got a vendetta against these ppl and die die must catch one today or else... Sure will happen one, cus so many of those 'siao lang' are out there.Originally posted by pervertboi:what if u can't get it on the first run? are u gonna walk to and fro at the pedestrian crossing like a siao lang?![]()
yes if the quality of your video is good enough to catch offenders red-handed then they have no excuse and the police will have to charge them.Originally posted by karn123:By "it" I meant a crime in progress.
Reckless, impatient drivers are everywhere. Many a times, while crossing the zebra crossing near my place of work, you have drivers just running across the zebra crossing when pedestrians are standing by the side, waiting to cross. About 5 times, the cars run across the zebra crossing even when pedestrians are on it. I myself experienced it twice, the car narrowly missing me by inches. One time, I was trying to cross the road fast, so that the cars wont have to wait too long, and what does this driver do? Drive faster to 'race' me. What mentality is this? The driver was a middle aged woman.
So, I have half a mind to video tape the incidents from now on. Before crossing, I may just turn on my handphone camera and if I experience such a case again, at least I can quickly video tape it as it happens. Not sure what I can do with it though, is it enough to lodge a police report with this?
ps: It may all seem harmless and me kicking up a fuss, until someone gets run over.
No, I do not. But I will get me a license, who knows in the future I will.Originally posted by menoob:i assume u dont drive right?
my point is, u should look from a driver's point of view.Originally posted by karn123:No, I do not. But I will get me a license, who knows in the future I will.
Your point, Sir?
I know one could learn to be flexible and not stick religiously to traffic regulations. Fine if the group is walking very slowly and not yet on the zebra crossing, by all means the driver can slowly go over the crossing if he is already at the zebra crossing (far end). I must be fair and say I do not think you are very wrong to go over slowly when the pedestrians are not yet on the crossing and you are on the far end.Originally posted by menoob:my point is, u should look from a driver's point of view.
as u approach a crossing, u see a group of pedestrians about to cross, either u give way to whole group or u accelerate fast n pass them b4 they cross.
which do u choose?
i guess it depends on the driver's mood, whether he is rushing for time, his age, sex etc.
some zebra crossing(junction outside queensway shopping centre) have so much pedestrians walking that lta installed traffic light to let vehicles pass.
i drive pass there a few times b4 they installed traffic light and i never give way. just manoeuvre across in slow speed.
Most drivers will give way, only a minority will speed. But some places really bobian, must move the car slowly slowly in front. For instance at orchard the crossing near scotts shopping centre. If the driver lets everyone cross, there will be no chance for the car to move at all. Pedestrains also play a part. I have often seen some crossing the zebra without even looking whether there is incoming traffic and just dash across.Originally posted by karn123:I know one could learn to be flexible and not stick religiously to traffic regulations. But if the driver is still far from the crossing, and he speeds up just to 'beat' the pedestrians, is he still right? What if there is a misunderstanding and the pedestrian quickly walks across so as not to let the drivers wait too long? Accident? Fine the driver? What's the point then, if the pedestrian ends up crippled or dead?
I won't even mention how wrong it is to quickly speed across the crossing when the pedestrian is ALREADY ON the zebra crossing.
The driver is already in a car, how is 3 seconds of waiting for the pedestrian to cross going to affect you? As the chinese saying goes, in a rush to reincarnate?
Put myself in the drivers shoes? I often do and wonder what would make the driver want to do that. But I see NO reason (not age, sex or if you are having a period that day) at all to put another person's life in danger. The driver in the car, how injured can he/she be if an accident should happen? And the pedestrian on the other hand may lose a limb, his way of life or even his own life. What happens to his family then? How would they feel to lose a father, a mother, a sibling, a wife or husband?
Yes, I have often put myself in their shoes how about drivers put themselves in the pedestrian's shoes when this kind of thing happens to them, how would they feel? The way these people behave, it boils down to the reason that they feel they own the road, they are in a big car and everyone else should give way.
I know you don't mean the physically unabled nor the old, because thats the way they are. For the able bodied, as guan lan as they may be, how slow can they be, right? I mean, a person in the right mind won't stop right in the middle and dare you to crash him right? If you want, just honk him/her.Originally posted by Y_Shun:Some pedestrains just walk damn slow...as if the road belongs to them...
Worst still if is when you let a group walk pass...then another group...never ending and you will wait veryvery long...
