What if there are words that are the same length, have approx the same letters, and start and end with the same letters.

When you read a sentence, your brain will automatically find a word that fits the sentence before your actually read it. Take it as a list of suitable words. And when you see the first and last letter of the word, your brain will take out the words that have the same first and last letters. Then, it will measure the length of the word and cut out any word that is longer or shorter than the one you're reading.
