Bomb Shelter in a HDB will still remain after bombing in war

I thought of this before too. But mine is the older HBD with underground shelters...
Is it true in times of war they have to clear the shelters within 24 hours?? Cuz the shelter in the next block is a minimart and mine is a childcare centre...so if they don't clear i run to the opposite block i won't die of hunger liao la? -

It's designed to not let you die from a direct bomb hit... but rather suffer the pains of debris crushing on you for hours while you dehydrate and slowly wither off through hunger and thirst.

Do they still built these shelters for newer blocks? I remember they build for the newer HBD blocks in the late 90's after that i hardly see bomb shelters in the newer blocks.
In any case even got bombing... Instinct will tell me to "GET THE F*CK OUT OF THERE!!!"
Seriously... if it starts to bomb you think you got time to run downstairs to the bomb shelter and start to cram with hundreds of other residents?
And not to mention the fact even if everyone is nice and safe inside and food, water and air start running out really fast, what are you gonna do after all these run out?
Plus i think the shelters are not made for nuclear blast and will probably fuse the bomb shelter into one huge pile of debris with humans inside like a nougat in a chocolate.
So all in all i rather be outside dodging bombs. Either way if we go to war we're basically F*cked. -

seriously if u in a building that is deliberately being targeted, then byebye liao, no shelter will ever save u. these household shelters are meant to increase the chance of survival, its not a guarantee lah. -

As regard to your other queries,we wish to highlight that the protection provided by household shelter comes from a combination of the strengthened walls, ceilings and floors, the setback distances of the shelter from the building's exterior, and the firm foundation to provide added stability and resilience against collapse. Singapore's apartment blocks are robust structures that will not easily collapse even after being hit by a bomb although localised damage to the block may be expected. While certain areas of the building may be perforated, the building as a whole will remain standing.

Heard from my cousie today:
new HDBs now got a small hole/ window at the kitchen. And men of every household would have learnt to use guns in NS. So when S'pore is under attack, they can collect pistols from the gahmen and shoot at enemies from there...

I also doubt it will stand.
But one thing is, given singapore structures and all, i doubt any sane enemies would want to collapse any building right? After they invade, will need a lot of $$$ to rebuild leh...
