John can finish the task in 45 minute. Peter can finish the same task in 30 minutes. How long will it both John and Peter working together at their respective constant rates to complete the task? -

Rephrase:
John can finish 1/45 of a task in one minute. Peter can finish 1/30 of a task in one minute.
Working together, they can finish
1/45 + 1/30 = 1/18 of a task in one minute
Hence, to finish one task together, they will need 18 minutes. -

can it be split and done seperately or must it be done sequentially?
sicne there are 2 of them doing it, will htere be a need for synchronisationa nd editing like in the case of writing a paper?

Their manager takes one look at them and replaces John and Peter with 4 foreign workers commanding a fraction of their annual salaries.
Thus, the job gets done in 10 minutes.
John and Peter end up at the Bedok bus interchange selling tissue paper in order to pay for their 30 year mortgage loan for their HDB flats. -

Therefore in 1 min, both of them can complete (1/45 + 1/30) of the task = 1/18 of the task
Hence, to complete the task, you need 18 mins. (1/18 * 18 = 1)
