Hong Kong or Taiwan or China for holiday??

My frens and I are planning on a holiday trip this coming july before entering uni. We shortlisted a few places but are still currently undecided on where to go. On our list are China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Point of consideration:
1. Budget. Willing to spend 1k+ for a 7 day trip. Not planning to go with tour. We wan free and easy de. One of my fren going hol is from hk so if go there he can bring us around.
2. Shopping. We will be doing quite alot of shopping so the place we go must have stuffs for guys one lar. Then must consider the prices of stuffs over there compared to sg. What I hope is can buy cheaper branded stuffs overseas. Think some of my frens just want cheap stuffs can le.
But we dun wan imitated goods!!
3. Places to go. At first was keen to go Taiwan but heard from a few frens there only eat and shop like sg.
HK seems not bad got disney and peak etc...Duno anything about china...But we not interested in see mountain see sea one lar..Can go spring bath all those...
4. Mei mei. Best is got pretty gers to see while going hol . Heard taiwan meimei all v act cute one hahaha..But this one not v impt cuz everywhere also got pretty and ugly gers

China is the most inexpensive place. The shopping malls are also very big. One day cannot walk finish wan. Can shop and fight the human traffic until you faint.

I will suggest go to Hong Kong!! ^0^ it is a great place to shop, eat and play!!
I just went to NATA's fair on last sunday, they offer me free and easy package @ $1366 for 5days 4 night including GST, air tax from singapore and hong kong, air ticket and hotel. ($1366 is base on 2 persons, so 1 person only $683!!). you will take Cathy Airline and stay at Mayfair Garden Hotel (3 stars hotel). Morning flight at 6:30am to hong kong and 8pm flight return back to Singapore. If u wish to extend 1 more night, then u just pay $130 per night per room.
For shopping, since you have frenz in hk, then u can ask him/ her bring you to MongKok..it is a great place to shop or you can ask him to bring u some industrial estate, because they have warehouse sales quite offen.
For Disneyland, most of the ppl feel that it is not fun or it is too small. I agree BUT the disneyland @ hk is incomplete yet!! now they r still builting the park and i think still have 2 more years to go.

well, most famous China tourist spots are "see mountain see sea" one like you said. But if you go shanghai or some other mordern cities, there will be many big shopper centers in town.
If you have a HKer in your group, i think it will be the best trip. But you guys need to communicate with him before going, discuss which place to go first, make sure the places chosen are the ones that most ppl in the group prefer to go. He can save money and time for you all during the trip becuase he know the places well. No need to check here check there ask here ask there when u travel around with a free local guide, hassle free.
For China and Taiwan, i think you all will get a more "free and easy" feel wihtout the help of a local. You all will be taking maps from airports, spend a few minutes on finding out how to go to the next destination everytime you finish one tourist spot, you will need to ask strangers about this and that.

go china can for everything . big cities . beautiful moutains . super big grasslands. no2 biggest desert in the world . ..... -

I would recomend Taiwan.
You just need to find a place with not bad security to sleep. Got budget airline right? Take the budget airline.
Then ask for information of local tour agency with the hotel there, they will tell you one. Arrange the transport for a half day tour to a particular place of interest.
Dun worry, 7 days is not enough for Taipei only.
I'm not impressed with Shanghai. So, I'm not recommending Shanghai. -
lol but some towns like shanghai and beijing are really modern already..dun lose out to sg..seems like most people like hong kong...
