SINGAPORE: World famous climber Alain Robert is in Singapore.
The French spiderman, known for scaling skyscrapers with his bare hands, has climbed the world's tallest building in Taipei.
Last week, he tried to scale the Petronas Towers in Kula Lumpur but was stopped at the 60th floor for not having the necessary government approvals.
He said: "I was thinking of getting approval from the Suntec management to climb one of the five buildings, but now it seems it is a big headache to get it from the Singaporean authorities."
The possibility of being banned from Singapore is giving him the jitters so there will be no illegal climbing attempts from him here.
Instead, he will be giving talks to his smaller fans and demonstrating his skills in a safer environment.
"In the UAE (United Arab Emirates), they are so happy whenever I climb, they are giving me the approval. Of course, I'm signing a lot of papers for the country not to be liable for any prosecution. Different countries, different rules," he said.
Seven years ago, the French spiderman tried to scale the 63-storey UOB building at Raffles Place.
He was arrested by police at the 23rd storey for criminal trespass. He was later let off with a warning.
