Then Sei Bai Por refers to SGH... how come is it so called? whats the meaning?
zup luk lau refers to some place in tanglin halt, coz there used to be some 16 storeyed hdb flats??
Then what about Sei Kah Teng, Orh Kio Tau, Mangka Kah... where is this places? and how did these names came about?

These Indian policemen are called sey poys.
Sei Bai Por is the Hokkien corruption. -
Da por is the area after boat quay.
Xiao Po is the area before boat quay.
This is to be exact as by the older generation.
Mang Ka Ka.. means Mosquito bite bite
The area at Lavendar and Bendemeer used to be a huge swamp area. So alot of mosquitos in the area.. so the name comes about.
The sepoy lines at SGH is true.
Chup Low (10 Storeys) used to mean the Macpherson Estate.

i thought recently SM Goh Chiok Tong announced that we will be naming our roads by "great" leaders like "kwanyew center", "hsienlong loop" or "chioktong ave" ?
sound nicer right? like that we can immortalise our great leaders forever!
