There's no wrong in what the salesman did.
Read through Trend Micro's license before you complain.

And CASE will throw your friend's case out. It's perfectly legal, it's perfectly right, and it's stated plainly and obviously.
Case closed.
Read through what I wrote before passing out judgement.
He told her it was a "renewal of license" He never told her he was selling her the set of installation discs. If he had, she would have told him she already had it.
Instead, she paid for what she thought was a renewal fee, but got the software instead. Yes, we can go on til the moon turns green about all the should, could and would have's that had not been done.
Perhaps my depiction of the story is unclear. Suffice to say, she asked for something, got a different product in return.
Unless the 'renewal fees' really are $69 per license, then I concede that I didn't check Trend Micro's fees before accusing some poor sod.
Regardless, by using the word "throw", your words carry a tone of disparagement and condescension. You can take his side, its your prerogative.
Also, I have nothing against Trend Micro, so please don't assume I'm complaining about them.
This is my last statement on this. I just wanted to ventilate. The issue is closed as far as I'm concerned. And any further discussion on my part will only mean more time invested in discussing an ugly act. I've already invested so much to the point that this is silly of me. Its not even MY story. I can be such a dodo sometimes.
To everyone who sympathize, it was appreciated. I just needed to vent.
Life goes on.

(update: I called Trend Micro and was asked if I wanted to renew 'online' or 'not online' and was told that 'not online have to buy the physical set'... so that explains a lot... doesn't explain why unlike Trend Micro's own staff, the third party sales man didn't tell her there was a difference. ok, I'm done.)
