Use of Hokkien by Govt

Many a Forumite has expressed concern that with the Govt's increasing emphasis on the main languages, the us of hokkien may just disappear altogether. But did you know that the Govt has been actually using hokkien oso, particularly in the Ministry of Environment's hygiene rating of hawker stalls and restaurants?
What ENV's ratings mean:-
A = Eh sai
B= Buay pai
C= Chin chai
D= Lao sai (because the 'D' here stands for Diarrhoea)

dunno about use of hokkien BY the gabrament..
but i've used a lot of hokkien ON the gabrament

at the end of the day, we have to view languages from a value position.
what value does hokkien have in today's world, other than a passing reminscence, tradition's sake (that's the thing i hate most) and to communicate with elders?
with proficiency in english and mandarin, we're already fit to communicate with a large percentage of the world. i rather not burden myself, or future singaporeans to juggle yet another language (or dialect for that matter).
if you really want proficiency in another language, perhaps the next useful one is japanese. -
actually with india and china coming up..

who say the language died liao? there are still alot of ppl speaking hokkien leh.
