Consumer complains that SingTel sells used phones

lol. i bought a phone from singtel a few months ago but the keypad spoilt one.

i had the experience before too.. happened to me 2-3 years back..
i bought a motorola phone, after a few mths, find that something is wrong with the phone Since it is still under warranty i sent it to the repair shop at plaza singapura. They upgraded the software, but still cannot solve the problem. So the service staff said he will change a new phone for me. I thought that was very good service!
But i was wrong! I was horrified when the took the NEW phone home, i realise, at the inbox, there are plenty of malay smses! i dont even understand malay! And many pictures that do not belong to me at all! The vibration mode is also not working!
It is obviously an old phone!
I went back to the shop, and the service staff still have the cheek to tell me, it is a NEW phone! But they just cannot explain why there are SMSes or pictures in the phone! He keeps saying,"my computer system says that the phone given to you is a new phone"
i was like ARgGHH! What the F!?

Please draw the line clearly between Singtel's fault and the manufacturer's fault... I see lots of mixing up in this thread...
And im surprised that you people didnt realise a funny thing in the article... the person complained that her hp contained lots of messages for someone called Sharon.... and then she contacted Sharon who then said that she lost her mobile phone... if Sharon was the owner of the hp, then why would she send herself so many messages? Why would there be smses for Sharon in Sharon's mobile phone? Why why why?
Also, did it ever occur to you guys that it may be the SIM card's error? You all know that SIM cards can store information and maybe there was an error? -

Singtel is shlt, dun bother covering for them, unless you are also one of them.

Further, its just a figure of speech, i.e. she never express herself correctly or what, but the fact STILL remains that singtel SELLS old, used and possibly stolen phones!!

I believe this whole thing is a scam. Either that, that person is trying to defame Singtel.
As I said, Singtel does mentioned somewhere that they re-package traded-in phones and sell them off. I'm not surprised at this. -

This is how a phone's firmware works.
As long as you attempt to reset the IMEI number, you will need to erase its entire memory unit. If the manufacturers really collected all old phones and repackage, it will not even bother to specifically change the IMEI. In fact they will just reinstall the entire firmware and os. And the chances of a glitch occurring is really really low.
However, if the repackaging was done without manufacturers knowledge, like for example private shops in spore and JB, then this kind of things could happen. But why will Singtel sell this kind of phones.
So either the woman is lying for some benefits, or she got the 1/10000000.... chance to be that unlucky.
p.s. Many ppl interested in Sharon here. If i were her, i would definitely get in touch with the woman who called me and check out how my stolen phone got into the hands of Singtel. If news report even better. But why she hide? -

i sold motorola for like 250 or 300+, was a reasonable price.. -
