Personal preference lah.. I dun find it nice. Find it 'gimmicky', like a one-trick pony kind of concept, altho i admit contextually it does try to address its central location by manifesting as some kind of deconstructed gateway. Power n control lah.. this one too much power.. not much control, but if the intention is to be 'loud' and attention grabbing, then they suceeded...Originally posted by blahshit:haha.. ok ok..
btw, this building very nice leh.. lol..![]()

That's the problem with China lah.. until recently u go shanghai and see... all the buildings look like they wearing hats on top.. fancy fancy crowns n stuff like that. Even my tutor (Beijing-born, educated in Netherlands) last time also criticize it as 'immuturity' in design. Until recently, most chinese designs r all showy n overdone... not surprising considering the attitude of the nouveau-rich urbanites in their flashy cars, rolexes and handphones.Originally posted by blahshit:wah.. u chim la.. haha.. i think they trying to make it stand out in the "ancient" design beside.. cause it's got the most fanciful design.. erm.. i mean most modern la.. then it's also one of the tallest, which may also means standing out.. lol..
then this building will also be completed around the same time as the bejing olympics studium ma.. it's also for the olympics.. so i think this building is also meant to be a gateway to modernisation for china.. lol..
i know i sound strange la.. lol..![]()

It will take decades in China, no matter how fast the economy grows, for real self-confidence n assuredness to take hold. Hopefully China wont be choking in layers of smog n conrete nightmare by then.....
