  you can't sue a person based on copyright infringement

  No patent nevermind, anyway too late now already since someone already copied.
  
  If you sue,
  1. Your design must be in tangilbe form (on paper, tape, etc).
  2. u must be able to proof that the day u put this design on the media earlier then ur competitor.
  
  A simple protection is to do watever design ideas, sign your name, date, etc, seal , then mail to urself by registered mail. Then dun open it. When someday u feel that design is a copy of urs, bring the mail to ur lawyers, open it with witness.

  I just got a lousy customer after received my design, never reply back, just keep silient, I'm worry he will crab my design and go, dun wanna pay me.

  The customer is my fren's fren, I thought "sui bian" lah, then forgot to ask deposit, now I regrect.

  but thought if u'r under a company, then compulsory to sign some stuff before doing the designing? Unless i'm mistaken...

  Yes, sometimes I did ask customer to sign document, but this time I didn't.
