I always try to save resources, like reuse stuff like bags, and use as little electricity and water as possible etc. I hope everyone is like me then the world would be a better place.

I always refuse to take plastic bag if I can carry.
In Singapore averagely one person uses 14 plastic bag a day. Plastic bags are really classified as an hazard to the environment and take hundreds of years to degrade. Give our sons and daugther a chance to live a healthy life... -

I really dun see the need for a plastic bag if I can carry it. It make me look Auntie (I'm a guy) -
Not sure about Singapore, but in Oz you can buy the so-called green bag made of some fabric for $1 and you can get a few of those for your shopping items. I don't take a plastic bag if I don't need it and the item can fit into my bag
However, I do take the plastic bags when I go to the supermarket because that is what I use to hold my trash at home -

Even if they provide those bag, u must bring ur own there to carry stuff... they will bring in plastic bags... even worse... if those shops provide those special bag you can buy and reuse... they will nid to produce plastic bags + those special bags... even more harmful to the environment...
Unless u can change ppl's mindset... which is virtually impossible, its like telling ppl to use computer games to fight wars. -

Only when you run a household, you get to know how much you could get from one shopping trip.
Say for example we buy a carton of eggs, 3 x 3L orange juice and a few bottles of 1L soft drinks etc..... we can easily go home with quite a number of plastic bags. The cashier here usually tries to separate heavy/breakable items in different bags - to make it easier for you to carry. Unlike Singapore, they will squeeze as many items in a bag if possible without thinking about the weight. -

I support the move as it will encourage the shoppers to cut down usage of bags. Personally I don't request for plastic bags as long as I'm able to carry them with my bag or if it's a can of drink, etc.
However, perhaps the supermarkets would like to consider giving out plastic bags for wet perishable products such as seafood and meat. -

i seldom use plastic bags unless really necessary. at old chang kee i always ask the auntie put all my curry puffs and what ever nots into one small plastic bag
if everyone does their part the world can be a better place to stay. -
everyone can do thier bit. other countries charge for every plastic bag they provide. but the better part is the people really take their own bag when they shop at the supermarkets. sporeans too spolit liao.
