Hello.. I'm planning to go to Hong Kong and Shen Zhen in May.
Since i think there's been quite a few threads on HK... I think I'd only ask about Shen Zhen...
can recommend any hotel to stay in Shen Zhen? Anything to look out for? Muz be aware of anything? -

oh cool i went to HK + Shenzhen also in one trip. i wrote my experience in shen zhen in one of the threads. let me find it.

in summary, the infrastructure is quite good. There is tourist spot at the left end of the metro line (last station i think) with the big theme park with different man-made models of the different parts of the world (yes there is a singapore section with a mini merlion i was like OMG). The PLACE is actually very nice, quite interested to see all the little worlds.
BUT! The PEOPLE are HORRENDOUS. the subway is first class, but the passengers are third (sorry if u r frm there, this is just a general remark).
likewise for the tourist spot i went to as described above, the PLACE is great, but the PEOPLE are not.
there's this stone column with carvings in the (egypt i think) section and pple were just spitting at it as and when they felt like it.. and pple actually touch it and take photos on it without knowing after that.. i felt disgusted.. oh well.
so yea u can ask me qns too xD -

heard that alot of robbing case in shen zhen , regardless waiting for vehicle , walking or in a taxi
i know someone who went there 1 day kena rob 3 -4 times
shen zhen where i dunno ,i nvr go there so dunno detail but be careful though , either dun bring much money or find a way to keep money , wallet is not advisable -

we were on a free & easy holiday so we decided to stay in a hotel in HK. Shen Zhen is only a few hrs away from our hotel in hong kong (kowloon island) by train so it's quite efficient. U can hope over to shenzhen in the morning and return at night.. and repeat the next day if you want to go again. however, as u can see we decided to return by afternoon and never go back.. going back to hong kong was like "OMG! anyway, if u plan to hop between HK and SZ then make sure ur hotel is not like in hong kong island or something cos that means u will b damn far from SZ and u are only adding another hour to ur train ride.. -

i went shenzhen once every year. i stay with my cousins in long gang which is 80km away from it .. i tell u some experience la..
actually shenzhen now is about 7 years back of singapore. when u go there, must bargain. their items usually sell 3-4 times the normal price(1.5 -2 times for electronic product).. so if u see this bag cost 200 dollar, u can actually get it at $50. depends on your bargain skill, tatic, ect ect.
you also can go to asia's biggest IT trade centre (aka shenzhen simlim. but sim lim is the best in S.E.A). more than 3000 companies there do IT trade in just one building. competition is so tough that u may even get really cheap prices out from them. be sure that u ask about warranty... local or international. and also ,just take extra precaution to look out for immitation products.
The food there taste great too! many different (hokkien, teo chew ect ect...)chinese culture food restrauant to choose. just bear in mind that hot( as in chilli hot) isn't commonly serve there).
if on the street u see people with limps cut off and begging for money, dont give them. my cousin says that government has given food and place to stay. they did that cos they just want money. they dont deserve at all too... is money more important than health?
most of theshopping mall there very squeezy one, so keep your belonging tight as well.
more to add on.. need to think -
oh and the photos on top won't help u at all.
like i said, the infrastructure is actually quite okay except for older buildings and locations.
it's the people and the lifestyle etc. that u want to take note of.
(for example, a photo of a merlion with water sprouting out won't help u in planning ur visit to singapore, neither would a picture of our skyscrapers taken from across the river) -
hmm i went to shen zhen a couple of months ago .. had a bad experience waiting for the taxi .. waited for 2hrs.. saw 1 man and 2 woman quarreling for the taxi .. the 2 woman hailed down the taxi first but the unreasonable man behind jus push them aside and went into the taxi .. the 2 women was like scolding wtf$#$#% .. then the man inside the taxi shouted back at them "if u argue with me again! i will find some1 to kill u!" then the 2 women jus diam diam .. wakaoz! wad an experience!
