Discovered that long ago. Already subscribing to SCV.
HK & Korean dramas are way ahead.
They got great plots- swordfighting, kungfu, romance, modern dramas concerning hospital, airline, stock mkt. etc. Suspenseful, twist at the end.
TCS - only family dramas abt sibling rivalry, infidelity etc. Predictable plot.
HK/ Korean- has overseas shoots like in Switzerland, Praque, Australia
TCS - in HDB flats in boring S'pore
HK/Korean got young handsome hunks & cute actresses like Kevin Cheng, Charmaine Sheh, Kim Hee Heon, cute angmoh guy in My Lovely Samsoon etc
TCS - same old faces- Zoe, Fann, Li Nan Sing..already past their prime.
HK/Korean- beautiful theme songs, costumes (1 Korean episode in Princess Lulu the actress change 10 times, got matching accessories).
TCS actress- same outfit, carrying same handbag thr out the whole show.
Also SCV- can tune in to documentaries, reality tv shows, travel, talk shows etc
TCS always charity shows or ask-u-to-vote shows like Project SStar. -
they mostly make those family dramas to cater to singapore users

Hey dun play play ok....M'sia actually takes our old shows and screen it there. Maggi and me was showing just a while back. Now it's PCK season 4. They also copied our Superstar and Star Idol.
Anyways....I still remember during the elections.....when results were announced, all the TV time was for PAP. What a disgrace. -

'The Homecoming' is actually a very decent piece of work, when you consider the crap Mediacorp is capable of shoving into our faces.

I too have stopped watching Mediacorp productions long ago. Used to watch the chan 8 dramas when I was young as back than, there is really nothing much to watch.
I still remember the last one I attempted to watch was one sometime last year or so, before the NKF saga. God, it made me wanted to puke. Every chan 8 7pm/9pm slots drama was like a 1 hour long advertisement for the organisation. Each drama have mini stories which end wherby the main actors/actress will state how good the NKF children's fund is for saving children blah blah and further illustrate it with the tears of the grateful 'parents' or the one sponsored by NTUC wher each episode preaches abt their workers policy.
Anyways, I soon realise that the so call dramas by mediacorp are mainly advertisements for these organisations... -

Yeah, their standards has dropped, big time.
Sometimes they telecast those old Chinese shows from the 80's or early 90's in the afternoons or late nights. Those shows quality are way better than what's showing now. -
there is nothing wrong with Channel 8 drama ma,
almost all of the 9pm channel 8 drama by mediacorp is really good
like the current show which Li Nan Xing acts in it

the oni failure was that heaven show called FAN FAN xing xian ren
that show is a disgrace
script writer and director should be sacked
but our variety show really sux
except the mark lee and bryan wong one, which they re-design a hse living room for 6k budget
but den chew chor meng and zhong qin go copy their concept, and i tink that show sux and the people have to pay somemore -

I stopped watching when i entered sec 1
All their shows were eff-ed up bigtime la..their dramas is ALWAYS lots of complications combine to form the worst case scenario ever, an then at the last episode got 1 happy ending
Reality shows almost all are copycat shows..no new stuff at all..
And nowadays the shows all trying to milk our money 1..call this vote that.. -
Now i glued to youtube nia le... tv i think veri long nv on already

Funny, why can't we compare with tv programmes from other places? TV is TV is TV. If its good its good, if its crap its crap. You mean we have to be more sympathetic when coming to judge Mediacorp productions?

MAn I have stopped watching Mediacorp shows for a very long time now...All I watch now are NGC, Discovery channels.....BBC, CNN...all very educational and good for you to get ahead in life...
Only exception is Arts Central but even then....the documentaries are imported...
Local show sux big time....wonder why we still pay TV license...rubbish -

I wonder if we can dun pay TV tax and just subscribe to cable.
