selfishness dilemma in society

on one hand, we are told that we have to contribute to the society and also makes changes in the world and make people life's better other than our own.
on another hand, we tend to spend most of our time doing on own stuff, and making sure we are getting richer and having more fun in our life.
whether selfishness is a bad word inherently is hard to debate.
one could say that man is selfish.
therefore, we could see that there is this constant conflict of ideas between being self centred, dealing with ur own things or helping the world, society to be better by sacrificing your own free time.
to be accurate, we are selfish at times and helpful at times. some people in the society do help alot to others while most of us help rarely.
i personally to its quite inevitable to be selfish. in fact, i would think of changing the world, and think of how to solve poverty, solve crimes and improve country economy with the final aim that because it will help me in the end if i managed to make the world a safer place.
in conclusion, being selfish correctly is the key, though this seems somewhat a confusing statment i forsee. -
