Places of interest in Bangkok

  Would like to know what are the places of interest in Bangkok?
  
  What's the dress code to enter the grand palace? Will a polo shirt and jeans do? Or needs to be a business shirt and pants?
  
  Is the departure tax of 500bahts still applicable?

  To enter grand palace, just make sure you dont wear shorts or berms. And take off all head gear. You may wanna go to the ruins at the ancient city of Ayuttaya (or something like that) some distance from bangkok itself. Plenty of local agencies to take you there and pretty cheap for a day tour. There are other day tours also. Otherwise go for a cruise down the River.
  
  But!! But!! beware of over-friendly locals who hire tuk tuks for you. Its a scam!

  Where would be a good place to find those tour agencies? I got to know that the hotel where i will be staying does not have a resident tour agency.

  Go to Khaosan area, a lot there. A lot of angmohs there also. Can go make your hair into braids.
  
  Go visit the night markets also. Forgot the name but theres this famous one with bars on the side with strip shows.
