"Special needs" Child

  I have a neighbour who has a "special needs" child.He is retarded(the literal meaning).She told my mother that it is a gift from god to receive such a child?

  It goes to show how much the mum loves her child. It sure is a blessing for the child to have such a great mum.

  I work with special needs children. It is hard not to be inspiired by the love I see in parents for their children - no matter what. It is also difficult to imagine the joy and innocence of these children unless you have the opportunity to interact with them

  You can say....it is to bring up compassion in person's heart....or u can say....alot of such similar things....so with the existence of these people....they bring up meaningful things on people around them, or society,

  U won't believe how many people will 'accuse' parents with special needs child of bad deeds in their past lives (that's why now they need to suffer). Even if there is karma, it is such a unnecessary thing to point out as if this observation is such a 'enlightening' or beneficial one! It serves nothing but to add ostracism to people with special needs (u must be like this cos past life u evil) and their parents.

  My niece is retarded too. But she is a jewel in our eyes and she taught all of us what we take for granted in our lives. Her siblings are normal by the way.
