  I think people in Hong Kong and Tokyo walk much faster than Singaporeans. I went to Hong Kong and Tokyo, and people really walk very fast. On escalators in train stations, shopping malls, office buildings etc, people automatically keep to one side and let the fast walkers pass by. People also walk on one side of corridors and pavements... (The fastest human traffic I've ever seen is probably in Hong Kong's Admiralty station and Tokyo's Shinjuku station...)
  
  In Singapore, it's very common to see a couple standing side by side on an escalator blocking the way. When a corridor is divided into 2 directions, people seldom keep to the side where they're supposed to walk. I'm a fast walker (probably inherited from my HK parents) and I find Singapore full of slow walkers who keep blocking my way. Hence I'm quite surprised by this report that Singaporeans walk the fastest...
  
  (I have a feeling that I was one of the targets whose walking speed was timed... and I contributed to the "fastest walking time"...)

  I dunno about the stress factor, but I'm used to walking fast and I like walking fast. Not only I can save precious time by walking fast, I can also burn more fats...

  Sporeans walk fast to keep fit. So no need to got to gym for exercise. Brisk walking is as good an exercise, if not better!! In fact, brisk walking helps improve a person's blood circulation and burn those extra fats off that may be clogging the heart! Way to go man n woman!!
