http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost2775.aspxIt started with one pinch of the "forbidden fruit", but one pinch led to another and before long, this aunty ate an entire box of durian on the bus, unaware that a dismayed STOMPer Ruth Chong had caught her on camera.
Ruth, a 19-year-old student, sent this picture to STOMP on 2 May, along with a short narrative of the incident on 30 April at about 4pm on board service 106.
Ruth told STOMP that the aunty was already on the bus when she boarded it at Clementi. "The aunty was not eating then. Then, when the bus was near Holland Village, she started by pinching small amounts and licking her fingers and she got bolder after seeing that no one actually confronted her," Ruth said.
"Eventually, she started stuffing the whole durian seed into her mouth and within that 20min bus ride of mine, she finished one package of durian from NTUC fairprice," said Ruth, who alighted at the bus stop opposite Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station.
Ruth said the other passengers gave the aunty a "funny look" but she ignored them. "She even held the box of durian in her hand," Ruth said.
"She thought she could get away with it because the driver could not see her. It was a long bendy bus and she was seated right at the back. But the people around her at the back could smell the durian!
"And I thought eating is not allowed aboard buses. PLUS passengers are not supposed to bring durians on board, much less eat them!" Ruth continued.
