What's your past experience using BenQ products?

I bought an external DVD burner June last year. Barely a year and it spoilt already.
When I went down to the 'technical service' support site, I found quite a few people there. Chatting with them and seems like all of their products spoilt within 1 year or very close to after warranty.
Is BenQ known for product durability? -

i have a joybook 5k series for abt 3+ yr now, still working fine though

My BenQ mouse the left click got some prob wif clicking... you know the feel when there actually is a click sound everytime you press on the button? Now no more so I change to right click.

last time Kingston RAM was like THE ultimate quality assurance...
recently i bought one 512MB, spoilt and have to go back and change...

Nowadays, technology is moving so fast, a lot of things are mass produced. Mass produced products means lower costs, products can sell at higher prices. At the same time, this means there's more chances for defects. There is no longer QC...
Just look at Dell, Acer and the likes. -

mine DVD drive is fine its from Benq!
but my DVD writer from LG is even better! it alive and kicking

actually it really is true, you pay for quality.
that time what attracted me to this was the fact that it was one of the cheapest external writers. at that time i paid only about $116 for it whereas other comparable ones were around $140++.
Now i recently went back to Fuwell to check the price again and now this same model is going for $99. and others are about $120+...
I be building my new PC soon and originally I chose a BenQ Dvd writer, but now i will go for LG instead.
BenQ's 'technical service' only opens during office hours and damned if i am going to waste my leave going down to fix something that doesn't really do what it says it will. I asked them how come you don't open at all hours to cater more to the customer's convenience and they say because this office here we work office hours and the 'technical service' places are all the way at Penang. Hmm that didn't entirely satisfy me.
Then I sent them an email to inquire about the open hours for customers to drop their items off, and they sidestepped the issue and said yes we will repair for you...just send it over..yadda yadda..and then he said this that really caused my confidence in BenQ Siemens to drop big time.
He said that," we encourage our customers to buy a new set cause repair will be about $60-$80 not worth it." True to a certain extent but cause me to question the durability and quality of the product. I don't have so much time to go down and send my items for repair.
So one this refurbished set dies on me, which I think won't take very long, I will condemn it and go and buy other brands. Moreover, the refurbished set had a huge scratch down by the side, wished I had checked it more thoroughly. -

Me too .I brougth a Dvd burner less then a month,Smoke started to come out.Soon,I buried it six feet under.

My BenQ cd burner is still working fine..... 2 yrs already at least.
