Today i asked my friend what do the pedals on the piano do

When i was at her house, i asked her what do the pedals on the piano do when she was playing it. There are 3 pedals on the piano
she said the one on the left is the clutch, while the centre one is brake, and the right one is accelerator.
So i was wondering how come piano need pedals like cars? She told me its to enable the piano to play sound at different speeds.
Wow. I didn't know playing the piano is so interesting!
I learnt something new today -
lol i tot the extreme left 1 was pretty useless, the middle 1 muffles the sound so that the neighbour doesnt get annoyed and the right one strings all the notes u play together so it sounds really melodious.. but annoying as hell if used wrongly

what brake what accelerator? is it you yourself confused with the pedals with that of cars?
the right pedal is to sustain the music you just played, so that it sounds nice. -

clone or not....i neva thot u can describe the piano pedals like that...hahah...
Left pedal is call the soft pedal, makes loud music slightly softer, only high grade musicican can pick out the diff....
Middle pedal is muffle pedal, makes playing muffled cos a piece of cloth blocks the hammers striking the strings....
Right pedal is call sustain pedal, as what one of them said, to create a warmer and thicker resonance sound and generally make it nicer to lidten if used correctly....
