Well, there's a community and resources availabkle about Tintin at Tintinologist.org. It's the place for resource and view discussions among the Tintinologist.org community around the world. Look out for me as I'm a member there.
Tintin was created by Herge and first published in Le Petit Vingetieme on Janurary 10, 1929. Tintin adventures were published in that till The Black Island as German troops closed down the newspaper. Herge got Tintin on Le Soir till 1945, where Herge was arrested 4 times and Le Soir closed down in the midst of The Seven Crystal Balls.
Raymond LeBlanc, social rights activist came to the rescue and revive Tintin by helping Herge start up Tintin's own Magazine and on September 26, 1946, Tintin Magazine was published.

Now charlize, I got the question u asked but It could not be given an absolute answer. Now, Tintin was inspired by Herge's younger brother Paul Remi. Herge has other characthers namely, Tintin's predecessor Tortor. Tortor was a boy scout created by Herge in 1923 for Le Scout Belge (The Belgian Scout). I could conclude that Tintin was some sort of code name or is common name used to mention him.
Lorry, your question was how to get Tintin watches. Unfortunately, is rare here but common in France and Belgium. The price, by Blistering Barnacles is quite high. $300.00 US.
Huiz, you asked about the origin of Snowy. Herge never told anyone about Snowy's origin. Snowy is a male-white fox terrier and always accompany Tintin wherever he goes.

Tintin fans, be on the lookout for Tintin and gang as they hit the Box office in 2009/2010. Steven Speilberg and Peter Jackson will helm the production of the film. 2 Tintin films are confirmed to be released in 2009/2010, one directed by Speilberg and the second film will be helmed by Jackson.

Hi I saw Parkway MPH selling the mini compiled version of TinTin got 8 volumes.
However for VOlume 8, the stories i never read before.
Volume 8 consists of 3 items, 2 stories and 1 unknow.
i think the title is "Soviet Sun"??
the other title i can't remember.

Well, not sure what you mean there but to let you in, Herge, the artist who created Tintin and his adventures did a unknown story called Tintin and Alph-Art, which was not completed as Herge died while working on the story. It was first released in 1987 and was released again on second publication by Egmont in 2005. A completed version of Alph-Art, by Yves Rodier is available via auction only (e-comic) at Yahoo! Auctions Singapore.
