It's not funny at all my friend... Havent u read in the newspapers that there have been cases where teenage girls give birth at home without anyone noticing.. That's becos no one realised that the girls are pregnant, not even their family members or neighbours...Originally posted by gigabyte14:u cant tell fat to pregnant meh?![]()

urm, sorry, but I tend to agree with missqiOriginally posted by coolgeek84:No offense missqi but I feel sad for people with your kind of attitude. This is a public service. Not some luxurious ride you are exclusively paying to get top class treatment.
Ladies who are not heavily pregnant but just pregnant also need seats. We don't give them seats because they are heavily pregnant or can't stand much. We give them up so as to avoid unfortunate incidents such as the lady losing balance and falling due to the train jerking. This can be very dangerous for the baby in them. Same goes to old people. An injured young person (like urself) can recover faster when compared to an old person (fragile or not).
Peace.

i'm prepared to stare at those ppl right into their eyes and feel no guilt.

the reason is because if they stand, if there is an emergency stop, the fat person will fall n caused injuries to skinny pple.

It is OUR right to decide to give up the seat or not. The potential beneficiary has NO RIGHT to demand someone to give it up.
If we give up, its coz we decide it ourselves, not becoz that person is staring at us making us feel embarassed.
Sorry, but I tend to be angry when you say it as if you are taking for granted people's kind intentions, that they MUST do it.
No one owes the pregnant woman or old person a living, that they MUST do something nice.
And sorry, you want to blame, blame our govt. There is no benefit to being nice or being gracious, money is all that matters
ah well..its nice to be nice n ur jux being nice..at least some others on e train will tink of u as a nice fella..anw im not sure if u guys seen tis b4..i once board a train wif a guy who brings foldable a chair wif him..it was peak hour...trains super crowded..so he jux unfolded his chair n sat in-between 2 cabins..(u noe e metallic area)..smart?Originally posted by boredtulan:she was standing right in front of me, dunno she's pregnant or just fat.
train was crowded, she was looking around for a seat but i wasn't sure. I'm a gentleman but her face was screaming "give me that damn seat" and that made me think twice.
a lady stood up to alight a few seats away. Her head turned quickly, ready to pounce like a spitting cobra but she was too late. I thought to myself, she really looked desparate for a seat. But what if she's not pregnant? What if she's just a greedy pile of lard with weak willpower and just ate and ate then uses deceptive means to get a seat on trains? Well I cast the doubt away and stood up. Its still a kind gesture to offer your seat to a lady. She pounced on it like it was her long lost bean bag.
A hint of regret crossed my mind, accompanied by that feeling you get when you sign on the dotted line with a 2nd hand car dealer. Ah, let it be.
I don't agree with your opinion that we do not blame the govt. If the topmost people behave as if money is the one and only thing in the world, how do you expect the people to behave?Originally posted by the_fallen:some corrections
singapore doesn't owe anyone a living.
thus if we want anything, we have to request on our own, and not expect it to drop from the sky.
similarly, if the (those in need) needs seats, they can request, but very often it's usually out of politeness and cutouresty that people give up their places.
We can't blame Singapore Govt, in the whole world, everything is about Money, No Money No talk. So you can't push the blame to them.
It depends on what and how you think if the individual derserves to get a seat or not.
I myself also give up seats to those in need, but only when I feel they really need it.
So far, I will only give seats to pregnant ladies and selected elders..
I will not give way to aunties and Some Elders/Seniors because most of them are so 'kiasu' for seats. Rushing and pushing their way into the train when the doors just open.
Respect and politeness only should be given to those who respect themselves and others.
