Ethics of newspaper

Some newspaper just make reports to sell money and they like to evoke feelings by putting dramatic and inaccurate headings and judgment.
Some newspaper are not very ethical in news report because of profit driven goal. That is why many celebrities and sport stars and public figure become victims of newspaper.
For example, the newpaper today put steven gerrad picture and put the title "serve you right" which i think is very unfair to him. -
I want to be a journalist in the future...
I know there is an international ethical code for journalists.
I realise singapore journalists are not following them -

Before you come complaining about such things, ask yourself this question first:
Would you rather read interesting or boring news?
Interesting news are unfortunately, usually gossips, tragedies etc.
As for those celebrities, that is the price you pay for being famous. It might sound terrible but it is the harsh truth. -

i myself already dun like it when people misjudge or talk badly about me. i am sure nobody likes other anyhow talk about them in a bad picture.
Law is usually close 2 eyes on such reports that report half truths. Have not you heard of celebrities killing themselves over pressure issues. I think the some media is being let off too easily over bias reports. -
The thing is, our media is terribly screwed up. How so? Look, most of the newspaper are full of tabloid news..pick up a copy of the NewPaper, Wan Bao, Xin Min or whatever, and you'll realize that more often than not, the headlines are full of 'attention-grabbing', tabloid news..
To cite a recent example, don't you guys feel that for the recent HC guy-beat-the-busdriver incident, there was an over emphasis on the school which the guy came from? Was there such a need?
Unfortunately, tablod news sell..In a way, we have ourselves to blame for continuing to support such behavior. Im sure if we made known our displeasures at their acts, something will be changed.. -
Hmm both of you need to take things easier. Singapore is NOT the exception. You can find stuff like this whether it's US, Europe or other parts of Asia.
One drawback in local media is due to the small size of Singapore. Because of that, we lack real news so the media have to sensationalise every single case they come across, which usually are trivial neighbourhood or private family affairs.
If you minus all that, our newspapers will really be thin, comprising mostly of ads and sports news. You will have to think about that... -

I used to work with one of the managers of mediacorp, and he told me (sorry i can't reveal names !!) that the journalists that write for the new paper aren't usually the best.Originally posted by january:I know others are worse.
