no.
if u are good at it, u can get A easily.
i tried to score in every section.
even my Oral.. i got Distinction.
the extra effort i put on was to go study the dictionary for characters that look alike and their different meanings. -

I read Qiong Yao's works since I was 12, and stopped reading when I was 15 or 16.. bcos I finished reading her collection.
Then I proceed to read Zhang Xiao Xian, Teng Jing Shu, Wu Ruo Quan, He Quan Feng etc etc..
i read anything that interests me. -

I did not study for chinese and i got B3.. i think it depends on how good is your chinese base bah.. i got a friend who practice the whole ci yu shou ce.. whats the point.. in the end get B4..
This is the tip from my teacher... it may differ from you format .. i not sure.. i took mine in 2002. Must score paper one.. The letter writing must get 7/10 then compo must get minimum 18/25 .. then the B3 is yours..
for paper 2, what i suggest is .. you go memorise the chen yu coz zhao ju confirm got one to two chen yu.. then do a good job for wan chen ju zi. the rest is see how good your chinese is loh.. -

1st - zhong he tian kong
2nd - 3 yue du li jie(6, 4, 1)(multiple choice's li jie wen da)
3nd - 2 li jie wen da, passage A/passage B.
the qtns i hate most is those ask you, agree or not...then give u 6marks to write it yourself.

there is no way...language imo is something u cannot mug and cannot study for..as in like study and guarantee an A or something... unlike science and maths where the subject are application n logical thinking..

Language have to be studied. If not, how do you explain malays/indians learning chinese so fast? And other people learning foreign language. Language is a expression you use to speak to others, which helps because people do not have to use body languages. In this case, chinese can study, learn meaning of phrases in dictionary, then enough. If not, why bother go Chinese class when you do not even need to study. Hear teacher say like: Today, we learn a new phrase: jiu niu yi mao. what is the meaning, then you hear teacher say the meaning. blah blah blah? Overall you can understand after teacher said it once/twice? Somemore its on the same day. In your opinion, means that you never study, or never listen to teacher? But of course, for subjects like Science and Maths, you have to study because they need you to use your knowledge to add in into your answer. So in short, you have to study languages, inclusive of English. i rem there is this section that test you how to write the chinese words right? 5 random words from 4 years of textbooks.. i score for paper 1 and oral in order to makeup for the loss of this part and the zao ju area
you can memorise everything in the ci yu shou ce all you want, but what bout oral and writin skills? Language is a thing that requires you to write, speak, listen, and apply (the words you've learnt) -

If you are naturally good at chinese, then dont have to study. If you are bad at it, just memorise the chi yu shou ce (the stupid book with many words) then you should get a good grade lol. But make sure you really memorise all of it.
