yea..i agree...should have interview for each and every applicants if possibleOriginally posted by ironpeasant:Firstly, i feel that the A's are getting easier than b4. The statistics show that more ppl are getting straight A's than b4. During my time in SA, only about 10 percent of the cohort gets straight A's. I guess the dragon year 30-40 percent? This leaves those who have Bs and Es quite a disadvantage to enter local U.
Secondly, i feel that the A's is not a good judgement of one's academic ability. A few days of exam for 2 years of hard work is a real gamble. For instance, if one student has consistently been getting As and Bs for GP, but during the A level writes an argument the examiner doesn't agree with and gets a D7; compare this with a student who gets C6 during internal exams, but get A1 during the A's. I reckon the former deserve a place in uni more than the latter assuming they have equal grades in the other subjects. There should be consistency in grades for one to be judged upon.

No the As are not getting easier. Its the people are getting better. But i agree with the gamble part. If uni admission was based on a system that takes results from the whole 2 academic years, then that would have been better. Prolly motivate more people to consistently study so that they are really good.Originally posted by ironpeasant:Firstly, i feel that the A's are getting easier than b4. you mean the other adult males from other countries are not men?Originally posted by CoolMyth:I always like to say, it's time to teach university stuff to our JC cohort to separate the really good ones from the fakes. Also, it's a good time to prepare them to compete with our FTs who come in and seemingly know everything there is to it about the things learned in university.
Though the boys will be disadvantaged cause they need to spent 2 years to become men.![]()

Relatively speaking, jc stuffs harder than uni you know.Originally posted by hisoka:anyway if we start to introduce uni stuff to jc, then the jc will just become another poly![]()

Now she is one of the top students in her uni & offered a place to do Law.
She intends to find a job after graduation & don't want to come back.
Tells me if she studied here, she might not get a place in uni.
better not, then we will have a glut of diplomas. besides one of the reasons pple go jc is cos they don't want to really choose a course of study too early.Originally posted by CoolMyth:No, they are still boys. My grandma's definition of men = A man is a man when he has a job.
Actually, that's a pretty good idea. Might as well convert all JCs to polys, though on a smaller scale, for example, some JCs serve as schools of etc etc.
Then, if there are people who apply to local uni and got rejected. At least they got a diploma to fall back on. An A Levels cert without uni is still worthless in today's context.![]()
unless u have good results then its useless lahOriginally posted by hisoka:better not, then we will have a glut of diplomas. besides one of the reasons pple go jc is cos they don't want to really choose a course of study too early.
