It is not that people do not have the funds. If you want to work in Singapore, NUS is enough le. NUS is "mouth-watering" offer. Even if they had the funds they wouldnt want to waste it anyway. NUS NTU offer cheap cheap one why go overseas? Singapore mentality.

No the As are not getting easier. Its the people are getting better. But i agree with the gamble part. If uni admission was based on a system that takes results from the whole 2 academic years, then that would have been better. I always like to say, it's time to teach university stuff to our JC cohort to separate the really good ones from the fakes. Also, it's a good time to prepare them to compete with our FTs who come in and seemingly know everything there is to it about the things learned in university.
Though the boys will be disadvantaged cause they need to spent 2 years to become men.

I mean those taking S-papers. The content is definitely harder than some of the maths modules in university.
The FTs know because they are more hardworking and their own syllabus prepared them well for certain topics (not all). -

Actually, that's a pretty good idea. Might as well convert all JCs to polys, though on a smaller scale, for example, some JCs serve as schools of etc etc.

If got money, go overseas to study is the best. I got a female friend who went to cambridge to study after A levels. Her A levels only A B B with Bs in GP. She studied a 4 years master course in chemical engineering and now has a master degree.
What about those with 4As in A level? They slog it out in a local university and after 4 years, get an honours in chemical engineering.
