why my VLC player cannot view?

most of you should know that player well known to be able to play all kinds of codec.
It worked that way on XP.
Since i upgraded to vista, i haven't never watched something on VLC player yet. Have sound but no video leh
.flv .wmv simple ones also can't.
is there a setting to do? -
