Koh Samui slightly more.Best Shopping experence is still at PhuketOriginally posted by monoslayer:is the place better compared to koh samui?
So what are the charges for a SUV? or any vehicle? Food and etc?Originally posted by ceecookie:for those keen on driving.I can recommend 3 in 1 style of travel,Phuket - Krabi - Koh Samui
Rent a SUV(recommend true 4WD,not AWD) and drive.
There is a circular expresway - roads loop that u can take from outside Phuket Island to Koh Samui.
There're be car ferries to take u from the mainland to Koh Samui.
Also,u want to do pure offroading, head to the inner parts of Koh Samui Island, there are some trails(from sand to bare offroad style) u can take*.
Strictly not recommended for Honda CR-V,Toyota Fortuner and AWDs
Hi.For my plan(actually was Budget Rent-a-Car's suggestion),u start at Phuket.Originally posted by Rod1984:So what are the charges for a SUV? or any vehicle? Food and etc?
I heard that there are hot spring and lagoon ard Krabi.
IN Total, I estimated to spend ard $500 per person for the trip alone.

SUV charge depend on which rental and which model.
I suggest you rent from Budget as they include a touring map that is quite detailed and show some suggestion on travelling routes.

Which SUV depend on ur needs. If u just want to travel normally(on road - light offroad),then AWD is sufficient. However,if u want to offroad extensively then full 4WD is recommended.
The only true 4WD that Budget has is a puny 1.3l Suzuki Carribean. This one is if u reallyyyy want offroad because u can at most hit 110km/h on it.Est cost is B1570.00.
AWDs like Honda CR-V cost est B2890.00 per day.
Its seem that from your budget its best that you just take a tour around Krabi. This "package" is best with budget of 2k or so.
5 days is recommended.

Look for my post there
Yep, the hot spring is worth visiting =) The water is real nice there.. Not in terms of clarity or what, but in terms of the minerals it has in it I think. My skin felt real smooth and soft after going in there. =)Originally posted by Rod1984:Details NOTED. Ah thats the Suzuki Carribean.Originally posted by coolgeek84:Obviously you either didn't go with right company or maybe your standard is way too high..
Krabi is fun! I went with 2 other guy friends last time. We rented a 4WD car as well. Suzuki something.. We almost got lost with almost empty petrol tank in rural thailand! haha.. It was damn adventurous =) Finally managed to find a "petrol bunk" in the middle of nowhere, kinda creepy, and eventually made it back to resort. Can't remember resort name.. It was 4 star hotel I think.
Also during our driving we went to this beach called "long beach". Drove on the sands at the shore there! Damn fun! At sunset that too.. You can see all the crabs scattering about the sand while we drove at speeds of about 70km/h on the sand... I was standing behind, the car (more like a jeep) has open area behind, like a pickup truck.
Ah, I found a pic online,
Its not mine of course, I'm lazy to upload mine. haha. But its exactly the same car, Suzuki Sporty. Can't remember the cost though. Its pretty reasonable.
We went to Phuket by flight first then took a luxurious (sort of) ferry to Krabi. I can pm u my blog's link if you wanna see the pics and all =)
