To find inverse function, the general method goes like this...
Let y = f(x).
Then to find inverse function, let x be the subject instead of y, so manipulate until you get x = ....

f(x) = x^2 +2x
y = (x+1)^2 -1 <--- complete the square
x = +- squareroot(y+1) -1
so.. inverse function is +- squareroot(x+1) -1
but first you must check whether your function is 1 to 1. in this case it isnt so there must be restricted domain
