Yes. Every book is RFID tagged. Once the book is returned through the bookdrop, the RFID sensor automatically captures the return of the book.Originally posted by amusing_dick:oh so the book actually got scanned,i tot its juz a light showing you that " the book has successfully drop into the hole"..![]()

The maximum they will ever fine you is $5.50 per book.Originally posted by tfcheng:$6 for 2 books? i think u owed them long enough big time.
i accumulated my fines for couple of books few times that snowballed $5+ only..
You can return the book anytime, as long as it's before the library closing time. Even for a 24-hour bookdrop, try to return it before it closes. That is to prevent any technical problems (such as book not properly scanned as returned, in which case you can be fined for because the librarians can only check it next day).Originally posted by amusing_dick:is it safe to return the book on the exact due date in the evening?? if it take time for scanning then if i return in the evening then the book got scanned only on the nxt day i'll tio or-gong lor??

If you can't finish the books in time, renew it. Or for cheapo Singaporeans, return it, lurk around the library for a few hours, then re-borrow it to prevent paying the 50 cents fine.
