first, a hp is like a computer. if you dont off it, it will degrade like a computer, and it's life span will decrease. some of us bobian must on 24/7 cause of work related emergencies, but it's recommended that you off it.

That way all the small companies will off their computers to save costs and increase their computer's lifespans
On the contrary it used to be the opposite way! As in, the more u off and on the computer, the shorter its lifespan will be. This is because of the constant heating and cooling that is caused due to switching on and and off. The constant heating and cooling causes expansion and contraction of the elements on the chip/board/whatever/anything which obviously isn't good as it tends to wear off the object sooner or later.
But the new technology in our computers made that "worry" a thing of the past. So technically speaking, nowadays, it really doesn't matter whether u leave your computer on 24/7 or u switch it off la.. The lifespan still remains about the same.
And thats y, I don't switch off my hp. -

mine computer is on 24/7, i onli restart once in a while, never off it
it has been running like this more than 5 years....... no problem....
Imagine google or yahoo off their server for resting

only if hang....my fren ah he only when go sch time he switch on his hp.....siao ah.....when go home time ah he will switch it off.....then each time want to call him have to go through the house phone aka go through mummy....got one time i asked for him....i called him by his fathers name like how westerners call by the father's name...then she say the husband go australia.....lol

I never switch off my hp, unless it dies off itself due to a flat battery. And once in a long long while, i have to restart my hp when it hangs... Yes, my hp does hang... I am using Nokia N73 ME...

i used to off my hp while charging thinking that the battery would be charged to the very max if dun use any battery(hp one whist charging)...until quite recently my colleauge told me that he on the hp 24/7 esp. charging cause reason-(opp. of what i thought initially) and also hp would charge to full faster if left it on.....from there i adpoted the habit of charging hp while on and i works really.....
.....when i sleep what for need to use hp for me i just off it while sleeping.... -
