How much should I charge?

  Hey,
  
  Just curious...how much do freelance webdesigners charge for a simple website with like 7/8 links? Am trying to find out whats a reasonable rate as I've been offered 2 projects.

  charge by the hourly rate it would take you to set the the website up and running. add additional costs if it involves custom flash and graphics design, php, javascripting. Lastly, do not add the cost for webhosting/domain pruchase as this is a yearly affair which the customer need to make payment by themselves or through you.

  If it's plain HTML (or XHTML) + CSS, I doubt you can charge a lot for it. It's very easy to create them. Or just download some templates off the web and use an editor to create another page.
  
  However, if you are creating a dynamic webpage, say using PHP or JSP, then it's another issue. Depending on your skills, how you use the scripting languages to create a page, you can earn quite a lot from it, either as a flat fee or on hourly basis.
  
  Add some creative elements to it, pay is even more.

  I was a freelance web designer back in those days - from interactive flash websites to asp/php sites.
  
  I charged like 250$/page then, it's really individual. If you got what it takes and can do more than ripping templates off the net, then few hundred for a page is considered very reasonable.
  
  Negotiate with your clients before starting the projects, better still if you got a portfolio, show them your works.

  LOL, how much you intend to charge them? Since they are not tech savvy, I presume they are just creating some personal websites?

  $250 per page... must be some hard work.

  Both are for their companies, but small businesses.I was thinking like $350-$400.

  What's the contents first? $350 to $400 means you must be doing quite a lot and they expect professional service and great results.

  so whats the website structure like? CMS? Shopping cart? or just a usual company profile.. if it is a normal company profile. i think 350-400 is reasonable enough.
