  hi Tamago.. me at Japan now.. entering via Narita .. so far so gd. Already know how to read the map and get around without any problem. But the only thing that not happy is the hostel. They give us crap room .. totally different from the picture show on the website. So disappointed. Feel like changing to other place. Weather was hot here.. can compete with singapore. So far no problem with the foods here.. we manage to know where to get nice and cheap foods..

  There are plenty of info available on the net and in the library. Plan your travel itinerary before you leave. Besides hostels, there are ryokans and inns. Trawl the net to get the addresses. Good to book in advance. However, there will always be more info available once you reached there - from local publications or from fellow travellers.
  I would suggest you first secure reservation at a hostel in Tokyo for the first few nites while you gather more info for the other places you intend to go. Out of Tokyo there are regular coaches besides trains.
