Speed up songs like techno? how to....?

  i dunno where to post this...can be at the tech forum..or the music one..so i just post here...
  
  anyway i need help...anyone knows how to speed up songs to make it SOUND faster...and not by speeding the song?...as in like this....if u make it sound fast if the original length of the song is 3.12 it will become about 3.05...but if u make the song fast only by speeding it up it will become about 2.40? i know the way i explain also weird..if u know how to explain in a better form pls help me LOl anyway does anyone know how to? if u do pls tell me..any replies will be greatly appreciated thanks
