as previously noted, viable clean technology exists. it is up to the rich guys to implement this new technology. (solar/glass panels) and up to the scientists to continue to improve on the existing design.Originally posted by the Bear:you think so?
knowledge is not to be mistaken for wisdom..
while our knowledge has increased leaps and bounds, our wisdom hasn't
that is why i say, it is all pending on the rich men.Originally posted by the Bear:it's there..
do the politicians have the political will to make use of it?
and if so, the main question stands.. how to feed the billions?
there is a plateau where it is the absolute limit..
we could have passed it..

the common man can only do so pitifully little.
u r talking abt an armed revolution then?Originally posted by the Bear:don't depend on the rich..
they have the politicians in their pockets... however, money cannot buy the votes of a united people

Originally posted by Ristar:sorry, im talking abt SG.
in SG, we r pretty much working for the politicians. say anything wrong, SOC come to your house, or kenna sue until bankrupt + print the face on the newspaper.
from our exchange, i gather that we are agreeing on the issue.
while technology is a sure way to man's own salvation, it is up to the human being to allow itself to be saved or not.
It's not how much technology can do. It's how much we can do.Originally posted by Ristar:technology can do wonders.
1000 years ago, no one dreamed of going to the moon.
1000 years ago, no one could fly.
1000 years ago, people can only keep their records on books.
1000 years ago, people dun have guns.
1000 years ago, people dun have nukes.
do so much? i beg to differ. the limits of technology is only how high or low we are at the very moment. nothing more.
no i did not say that technology GUIDES us. if u r saying i did, quote me.Originally posted by SturmDerSchatten:It's not how much technology can do. It's how much we can do.
However, technology is just a tool. It should not be the one to guide us into the future, nor should it be left behind. It is a tool that we must make the right use of.
Originally posted by Ristar:In no way was I saying you said technology "guides" us. You didn't even say it, so why should I do that? That's my statement. No need to get all unhappy and upset.
no i did not say that technology GUIDES us. if u r saying i did, quote me.
i said/implied technology directly affects how much we can do. and the limits of technology depends on the level we r at currently.
not how much technology can do? wat can human beings by themselves do?
examples.
weapons:
sticks and stones: smack the fella until he dies
rifle: shoot and he dies
aerial bombs: now u see it, now u dun!
nukes: tons of people die, everybody mutates.
power:
wood: chop like hell for a few hrs of warmth
coal: not efficient
wind: dunno need how many
nuclear: very good, but got nuclear waste
hydro: good
solar: best
get wat im saying?
