wonder which one should i go and buy. or got any1 got recommendation? should i go in a shop and just buy it or???

Diamonds - you need to look for cut , clarity , brilliance, color and something else I can't remember. Go for solid carats not cut up ones. A good 0.5 point solid will cost around 1.5k by itself - mastercut which affects brilliance , very small flaws, white to colorless.
Then we talk about workmanship - platinum will cost more than gold. So opt for gold if you need to be thrifty.
If you want small - no certification usually - u want big like 0.75 to 1 carat- certification given for insurance purposes . I like GIA certified or Debeers cert ( but I don't think there is one anymore). Don't let the jeweller hoodwink you about diamonds ....better to get certified and check it with another jeweller. Alot of fake diamonds around.
Whatever you do , don't buy cognac diamonds - that is being cheapskate and it is shat.
Frankly for myself I don't want a guy to give me a diamond ring ...diamonds are expensive because they are controlled by a cartel. I want RUBIE$, HAHHAHAHAHAH -

For 0.4, just go for a design you like and a budget that is comfortable. At that size you can't really tell difference in quality just by seeing it worn on the finger.

Weight is not really important..cos if too big may not look good on your girls hand.
Anyway, I did some asking and research recently. For me, I will go for Hearts on Fire (forget is it tian po and poh heng)
Its really very nice cut and it makes the diamond 15% brighter and bigger then its normal size.

actually u dun reli have to go to those branded retail shop coz normally their price is marked up by 1.5.
if u trust those at lucky plaza shops, u can actually save abit.
the workmanship n everything is the same coz some of those branded retailer shop are going to the same workshop.
i used to work in the production line, so i noe roughly how.

Actually it really depends. If u don't go for brands u can get TAKA diamonds. They dun have perfect diamonds, maybe some super minor flaws that cannot be seen by the eye. But for the same price compared to Lee Hwa, u get a bigger diamond(carats). If she doesn't mind flaws that cannot be seen in that case.
Or you want better grade of diamonds or a box that look nice when u propose u can get Lee Hua or Goldheart. It has very nice wedding bands.
For what i think, proposal only. Dun need to get too expensive or large carats of diamonds. A nice wedding band for the couple will be good. Until 'the day', buy something nice which can last forever.
