do a number (at least 5) of approaches to gers (total strangers), best if at different venues. everyday.
dun feel confident? nvm. go clubs and approach, be sure to grab a good friend along too.
since they had some alcohol and are prone to do "wrong things" just because they have something to put the blame on, u probly will have a higher chance of "widening your social circle" and "filling your bed with another human body".
but be sure to do some homework before u approach.

Don't be self conscious. And... turn off your computer, get out of that bloody seat, sms some friends and go out chiong! After u've had enough drinks to be a tad high, just make a note of how inhibited you are in your actions / talking to people .... remember it, coz that's the level of abandon/openness/energy that will draw friends to you.
As for keeping friends, that's another ball game altogether. -

Join forum with similar interest as yours and go for their gathering
When you go for their gathering, try to participate in what they doing and not hiding in a corner and be initiative and talk to them.
it beats the idea should you just go for the gathering and stick to being alone. -

If you're a a gal....hmmm......hmmm.......i dun a a clue....but for starters...make your MOTHER your best friends...relate to her and your confidence to relate to other ppl will mature.
One caution......take care of yourself. In your kind of situation, as a gal, in your haste to make friends with outside ppl [strangers]....you may get the wrong kind and may end up much more hurt.
So open your eyes.....BIG BIG hor...and listen with ears WIDE OPEN for sublimal messages to the words whispered.......spoken words tend to have double meaning......it may not be intended to be like what was spoken. So you will have to learn to discern the true meaning of the words.
